Certificates III and IV
in English Proficiency

Learn English while living in a Christian environment

Students who complete the Certificates III and IV in English Proficiency will have acquired skills which will offer them a range of further study and career opportunities.

Certificate III in English Proficiency
(Accredited under the Training & Skills Development Act, 2003 - National Code 40494SA)

Length: 20 weeks (including 2 weeks mid-semester holiday break) - February to June

Orientation: An Orientation Week will be held before the start of the course

Admission Requirements:
Applications for admission must be accompanied by a result in English testing of not less than ISPLR 1+ or IELTS 4.

About the Course:
The Certificate III in English Proficiency course covers:

How to listen and participate in conversations – informal, groups, formal, public (speaking and listening);
Reading and writing;
Learning skills to analyse any society while becoming familiar with Australian social issues, politics, legal rights etc;
Time management;
Use of technology for study; and
Oral presentations.

Certificate IV in English Proficiency

(Accredited under the Training & Skills Development Act, 2003 - National Code 40494SA)

Course Length: 21 weeks (including 2 weeks mid-semester holiday break) - July to December

Orientation: An Orientation Week will be held before the start of the course

Admission Requirements:
Applications for admission must be accompanied by a result in English testing of not less than ISPLR 2+ or IELTS 5.

About the Course:
Requirements for the Certificate IV in English Proficiency course:

6 core modules
220 hours of elective modules

Core modules cover:

Speaking, listening, reading, writing, oral presentations at an advanced level;
Learning to select and research a field placement, prepare for an interview, reflect on experience gained; and
Participation in field experience, communicating in English, learning skills on reporting, reflecting on experience, developing strategies for dealing with challenging situations.

Elective modules cover a range of topics:

Grammar, spelling and punctuation;
Use of vocabulary in written documents;
Presenting information, giving reports, promotion - verbal and written;
Advanced speaking, listening, reading and writing skills;
Dealing with conflict in the workplace; and
Research and referencing.

Fees
(All amounts are in Australian dollars)

Application Fee: (per student)	$50 overseas students $55 students in Australia (includes GST)
Tuition:	$4,000 per student per award
Rent: Single student Couples / Families	$85 per week + utilities $130 - $150 per week + utilities
Utilities: (electricity, gas, water) Single student Married couples Children	$20 per week $30 per week $5 per week
Rental bond:	4 weeks rent (refundable at the end of the course, less payment for any damage, cleaning or lost keys)

Food:
Students have the option of buying their own food or using the service provided by the College.
If students wish to use the College service, the fees are:

    Single student
    Married couples
    Children

$50 per week
$90 per week
$15 to $30 per week depending on the child's age

Other costs:

Transport for shopping, meeting planes, trains and buses
Tahlee Pre-School for children 3 - 5 years old	$50 per week
English tuition for children, 2 hours per week	$30 per hour, payment to be divided by the number of children using this service

For overseas students:

Medical insurance is compulsory For six months:	$174 single $348 families
Fees for Government school Accompanying school aged children are required to be enrolled in school while in Australia Application fee: Kindergarten - Year 10: Year 11 and 12:	$110 $4,500 per year $5,500 per year
