Students
who complete the Certificates III and IV in English Proficiency will
have acquired skills which will offer them a range of further study and
career opportunities.
Certificate III in
English Proficiency
(Accredited under the
Training & Skills Development Act, 2003 - National Code 40494SA)
Length:
20 weeks (including 2 weeks mid-semester holiday break) - February to
June
Orientation:
An Orientation Week will be held before the start of the course
Admission Requirements:
Applications for admission must be accompanied by a result in English
testing of not less than ISPLR 1+ or IELTS 4.
About the Course:
The Certificate III in English Proficiency course covers:
- How to listen and
participate in conversations – informal, groups, formal, public
(speaking and listening);
- Reading and writing;
- Learning skills to
analyse any society while becoming familiar with Australian social
issues, politics, legal rights etc;
- Time management;
- Use of technology for
study; and
- Oral presentations.
Certificate
IV in English Proficiency

About the Course:
Requirements for the Certificate IV in English Proficiency course:
- 6 core
modules
- 220 hours of
elective modules
Core modules cover:
- Speaking, listening,
reading, writing, oral presentations at an advanced level;
- Learning to
select and
research a field placement, prepare for an interview, reflect on
experience gained; and
- Participation in field
experience, communicating in English, learning skills on reporting,
reflecting on experience, developing strategies for dealing with
challenging situations.
Elective modules cover a range of topics:
- Grammar, spelling and
punctuation;
- Use of vocabulary in
written documents;
- Presenting information,
giving reports, promotion - verbal and written;
- Advanced speaking,
listening, reading and writing skills;
- Dealing with conflict in
the workplace; and
- Research and referencing.
