Course Outline

The course is comprised of 9 units of competency. Six were developed especially for this course:

  • TCE 411B Communicate with People from Other Cultures

  • TCE 412B Identify Language Learning Needs

  • TCE 413B Demonstrate Language Teaching Strategies

  • TCE 415B Manage Language Class Activities

  • TCE 418B Identify Language Difficulties and Correct Errors

  • TCE 419B Select and Apply Language Learning Resources

Three units from the Nationally Recognized training package Training and Assessment (TAA40104) these are:

  • TAADEL301B Provide Training Through Demonstration of Work Skills

  • TAADEL401B Plan and Organize Group Based Delivery

  • TAADEL402B Facilitate Group Based Learning

Time Commitment: 250 hours
  • June 1st to 12th - Two weeks of classes 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • June 15th to 27th - Practice Teaching: minimum 25 hours**

  • August 24th - 29th - One week of classes

** It is preferable that students undertake the practice teaching at Tahlee, however, arrangements can be made for this to be undertaken in the student's local area if this is more convenient

Cost

  • Course: $1650

  • Accommodation and food at Tahlee: $155 per person per week (shared accommodation)

  • Refundable rental bond: $100

  • Travel to Newcastle for practice teaching: approx. $40
