Overseas Students

When you apply for a Student Visa, the Australian government needs evidence of your English proficiency and your financial capacity.

Evidence of English Proficiency

One very important part of a Student Visa application is that the Australian government requires you to gain an International English Language Test Score (IELTS) of 5.5 or higher. However, Tahlee will only accept your application if you have IELTS of 6.0 or higher. You must also be able to include a Certified Copy of the document showing your IELTS score for your Student Visa application, and for your Tahlee application.

The Australian government website http://studyinaustralia.gov.au is available in 15 languages, and is a very useful site for you to investigate. You could also practise your English skills, and learn more about the Australian government requirements by reading: www.immi.gov.au.

Evidence of Financial Capacity

The Australian Government will not grant you a Student Visa until you can PROVIDE EVIDENCE that you have enough funds BEFORE coming to Australia. This must include all of the following:
1. Your airfares to and from your country, which may be approximately up to US$2,300.
2. Your living costs, which the government assumes to be at least US$9,200 per adult, per year, even though Tahlee is, in fact, much cheaper.
3. Your course fees: 1 year Certificate 4 in Christian Ministry  US$1,700.
2 year Diploma of Ministry, at least US$4,800 per year.

Tahlee does not offer scholarships, so you would need to earn and save your own funds, or be sponsored by family and friends. The government will accept evidence of a bank loan in your country, but we do not recommend this option. You can not apply for a Student Visa by promising to do some work when you arrive. However, once you arrive, you may find paid work for up to 20 hours per week during study time, and you may do paid work throughout your study break vacations. At Tahlee, we are concerned about overseas students doing paid work for their college fees because, with English as a second language, your study is already difficult, so you need all the study time you can get.

If you are very confident that you will be able to demonstrate your financial capacity and your IELTS of 6.0 or higher, then please inform The Registrar of your postal address, so you can receive our overseas student information package, and our application forms. Please do not request our information package unless you are certain of your financial capacity and your IELTS of 6.0 or higher.
